Bonsai Care Tips

Bonsai trees and landscape planting goes back a very long time in Asia. Perhaps as far back as 618 A.D. in China. Other documented history goes back to 794 A.D. in Japan. It could be that the art of Bonsai is even older, but we can be certain that Bonsai have been grown for many centuries.

Sometime in the late 1800's Bonsai began to appear in the West, perhaps earlier, but it wasn't until the end of the Second World War and troops returning home from Japan that widespread interest started to take hold.

Nowadays, Bonsai can be found far and wide, from big box stores to groceries, but usually these are not actually full fledged Bonsai, but are typically cuttings or what are referred to as "pre-bonsai" or babies that have not yet been nurtured, trained, clipped and cared for over many years. Every Bonsai has to have a start of course, and it is the care and potting of the babies and the mature trees and plants that we dedicate rePotBonsai to.
